Joshua Blake Carter – Day 1

Today was my first day working with the Ballet Nouveau dancers, and I woke up anxious to get started. I arrived in time to watch the last 45 minutes of company class… WOW! I had imagined amazing dancers, but these dancers brought so much more. After the dancers finished with class I jumped right in to teaching choreography. While we did set some choreography today, we also played the game of trial and error. Together we found what worked, and what didn’t. As choreographers we are VERY lucky to have Dawn Fay in the room working with us at all times. I find it beneficial to have another set of eyes in the room. Today we touched on several different sections and learned many key phrases of the movement. I have found that the process of working with these dancers is not only professional but also enjoyable. I look forward to the rest of my stay here, and to watching my dance take life!
