.As a bit of self-discipline, I'm starting a new feature: YouTube Ballet Video of the Day. Why? It's pretty obvious; I want to get in the habit of churning something out every day, regardless of the siren call of Internet procrastination. So, here we go, YTBVOTD #1. I'd pondered for awhile what video to do first (Soloviev? Bouder?), but then I remembered my own most-popular upload, Cynthia Gregory's Rose Adagio in ABT's wonderful and, alas, lost Oliver Messell production. I'd never seen Gregory's Aurora live, although I did catch other ABT Auroras ranging from the sublime (Natalia Makarova) to the, um, ...

Heres' an old Photo taken by Benjamin Wardell of Hubbard Street Dance with Garen Scribner , soloist in the San Francisco Ballet. We were working on a putting together a fun evening of dance around that time for the Urban Art Farm and Paulis Bday party. I had flown in a couple other dancers from NY who were in ABT and Jose Limon at the time and we had a good evening of new works by me and a couple others. Ahhhh the good old days....

It’s happened again. I was looking through old blog posts on the test site for the new blog (just to make sure everything’s transferred okay from old to new blog), when suddenly, I spy in some of my image links to ABT a different David Hallberg.
And later, ditto for Blaine Hoven. Blaine’s looks rather Dashiell Hammett / Raymond Chandler-esque, no?

It’s happened again. I was looking through old blog posts on the test site for the new blog (just to make sure everything’s transferred okay from old to new blog), when suddenly, I spy in some of my image links to ABT a different David Hallberg.

The fabulous Jade Young has sent me new headshots he took of ABT soloists Jared Matthews and Yuriko Kajiya, who performed a Don Quixote pas de deux last night on So You Think You Can Dance. What did you guys think of them?

Here’s a photo fabulously informative reader Jonathan sent me of our Marcelo Gomes dancing this past weekend in the Fire Island Dance Festival. I was unable to attend unfortunately. This is the festival Danny Tidwell had danced in last year but I am told he did not dance this year as he is touring with Rasta Thomas’s “Bad Boys.” Other dancers however included Travis Wall and Nick Lazzarini (So You Think You Can Dance winner from season one). Argh. Someday I am going to have to make it out there to this festival. It’s just that it always occurs right ...
