my little jaunt over to NYC

so i just spent a few JAMPACKED days and nights in NYC and had an incredible time. on my list of things to do/see: Marina Abramovic’s Retrospective and new work “the artist is present” at MOMA Fela! at the Eugene O’Neill Central Park Amanda LaPore’s BIG TOP Carnival Hang out with friends Maintain some sort of exercise regimen I almost scored a 100% on this trip. The only thing I didn’t manage to do was go to Central Park but I’m consoling myself with the knowledge that it’s early in the season and I’ll be able to make another trip for Central Park, the Bronx Garden thingie, MOMA ...

i’ve posted these on facebook but for some reason never put them here…. everytime i put one of these sketches “out there” and especially HERE i realize that at least for now, this is my dancing. i did make a little dance yesterday. and i even moved about a bit. but a part of me wonders if there will ever be a dancing life again. for now….despite the fact that this is a “dancing” blog…..the sketches will have to suffice. hope you enjoy. i love making these things. as much as it sounds like they’re “not living up to” my dreams of dancing again….they ...

sharpies, acrylic, colored pencils & an old canvas

i bought an old canvas from goodwill a few months back. it was already painted. a still life. a chair, window, table.  $1.00. i painted over it with latex ceiling paint. the stuff that starts off lavender and then turns white. we had some extra cans in the basement and i didn’t feel like spending money on gesso or other stuff. i don’t know what i’m doing anyway so it seems appropriate to use what i have around the house to experiment with before i go and get “official” materials. i also have some old acrylics, a box of sharpies and a ...
