At the 2010 Winter Olympics, over 8,000,000 watts of energy were generated less than a week into the games thanks to Sustainable Dance Floor, a special floor that produces energy as people dance on it. Sustainable Dance Floor is a product of Sustainable Dance Club (SDC), a Rotterdam-based company that enables clubs, festivals, and events to become more sustainable by combining creative approaches with innovative technologies. SDC recently released Sustainable Dance Floor XL, a short video that visualizes how dancers’ movements can create energy on a stadium-sized floor (which lights up just like the floor in Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” ...DancePlug Dish Episode 30

Today’s “10 Questions With…” features a young dancer at the beginning of his career. Please welcome Mark Deler… 1. How did you become involved with dance? I became involved in dance when i was 16 years old. I was in my room listening and dancing to some Michael Jackson and I did one of his big leg kicks. I noticed that for not much training I could kick pretty high and pick up movement rather quick. In high school (Riverside Brookfield HS) I was approached by the dance team, Orchesis, because they were in need of men. They asked and I said of ...Performance Mix Festival at Joyce SoHo

The new season of Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) had started in the US. Unfortunately, it is not shown here in the UK so I rely on YouTube to see some of the dances. I am nothing if not nostalgic. While watching the latest episode of America’s Best Dance Crew I spied this amazing clip of the Jackson 5 performing live on Soul Train. I quick did a search for it. This is classic, timeless and pretty darn cool. Sure, it has the standard group moves in it, and “Dancing Machine” was such a huge hit for the Jackson 5, it really put them on the map. But just watch MJ take stage do the robot. Smooth, effortless, super quick and very robot-like. Watch him do a fast turn, walk with his head moving side to ...The DancePlug Dish – episode 9
